Replicating Lost Force-Touch Sensation
User: Keio University, Nozaki Laboratory
The force-touch information of a grasped object is digitized in real time and transmitted bidirectionally to other parts of the body — in effect "transplanting" the sense of touch.
- Conventional prosthetic hands cannot transmit contact, making delicate work difficult.
- With MTL's compact μDD servo motors, each finger joint achieves high back-drivability so the response of the grasped object is conveyed back to the operator.
